When we got married in 2002, my husband said "For better or worst" but had no idea that included "For Halloween" as well. I had always dreamed of having a home in a neighborhood where kids still Trick or Treated, so I could really decorate for Halloween. That was the beginning of the insanity we call "Sleepless Souls". The 1st year we had about 40 kids, 2003 brought about 200 and in 2004 we were fortunate enough to be on HGTV's "Extreme Halloween" and was seen on national TV all across the USA, which caused the numbers to rise well above 350. 2005 was our last year in Charlotte, NC, much to the dismay of our neighborhood. We moved to a much smaller town, Florence SC and had to begin again by rebuilding much of the custom designed props we had built for our Charlotte home. Needless to say, I was nervous about our reception in our new neighborhood, but as the props began to go up, the neighbors began to come out and greet us with warmth and anticipation. The local TV news channel filmed a story about us, and the newspaper did a great interview and story. Halloween night came and so did the people, around 300! Not too bad for our first year in SC.
